Our good friend, Jose Flores, is asking for support for the Marine Run in October, held in Arlington, VA.
Jose is a Vet, and very active with veterans and addressing their issues. He’s a runner, and will be participating in the annual Marine Run, as a member of the 2019 Marine Corps Marathon Team. This effort supports the Semper Fi Fund, one of America’s highest-rated charities.

An invitation from Kate

Calling all patriots! Have you heard of Postcards to Voters?

“Postcards to Voters are friendly, handwritten reminders from volunteers to targeted voters giving Democrats a winning edge in close, key races coast to coast.

What started on March 11, 2017 with sharing 5 addresses apiece to 5 volunteers on Facebook so that they could mail postcards to voters in Jon Ossoff’s race grew in one month to 1,200+ volunteers nationwide and over 51,000 postcards mailed.

Now, we consist of over 61,000+ volunteers in every state (including Alaska and Hawaii) who have written close to 4 million postcards to voters in over 162 key, close elections.

To learn how you can write individually from home, go to: https://postcardstovoters.org/volunteer/

Or you can attend a great postcard writing group that meets weekly at The Shops at Kenilworth in Towson every Thursday from 10 AM – 12 Noon. I just started attending on July 4th and plan on going frequently. (I have written PTV from home for the Midterms.). The organizer of the group, Jill, an amazing activist whom I met 2 ½ years ago, asked me to extend an invitation to all Democratic Club members to come write with them. This is a powerhouse group of postcard writers but they are also welcoming and enthusiastic. I hope you can come!

EVENTS

September 21 (1 of 3): VOCAL Group Gathering (NEW)

Saturday, September 21, 2019, from 1:30-3:30PM at the Finksburg Branch Library. After a hiatus in August, we are ready to resume our work and need your help. Please join us this Saturday, September 21st from 1:30 to 3:30 in the large meeting room of the Finksburg Branch Library for the next group gathering.

The majority of the agenda for this working meeting will focus on next steps for the Ethics Ordinance Project that is part of VOCAL’s Elected Official Accountability Campaign. The first major step in this effort was Carroll’s Board of County Commissioners adopting a state-compliant ethics ordinance.

That leaves just three municipalities: Hampstead, Mount Airy, and Westminster.

We need volunteers for this working group! Even if you do not live in the corporate limits of these towns, please consider pitching in.

We hope to see you there!
