CAMPAIGN NEWS & HIGHLIGHTS

  • Signs are arriving at HQ! 37 East Main Street in Westminster – go get some! Various candidates’ signs available.

  • Temporary housing is needed for volunteers to come to our area to work. If you can help, or know someone who can, contact Don West (thema…@gmail.com), or Nina Belforte, Western MD Regional Director for the Coordinated Campaign (cbel…@mddems.org, 323-821-9162)

  • There is so much excitement and energy growing as we approach the Midterm Elections in November. Here in Carroll County, we have several great Democratic candidates on the ballot. Check out their biographies here. If anyone from the Club would like to volunteer for these great candidates or at Democratic HQ, please contactCCDems.

Note from the Vice-President

Thanks to those of you who contributed to The Shepherd’s Staff Back to School Program. Because of your generosity, 36 children in Carroll County received vouchers to purchase new shoes. We will be letting you know via email about upcoming “Democrats Care” events that will offer opportunities to volunteer in our county.

At the October 1st Club meeting, we will host a forum of candidates running for the Board of Education, which is a non-partisan race. Be sure to attend this important meeting to learn about their stances and positions so you can make an informed decision about who will best represent the interests of our schools and our county’s children.

Finally, as your new VP, I invite you to read my letter of introduction to learn about my goals for the Club. Please know I am eager to hear your suggestions on how to grow our Club and share our great Democratic values in our county.

Kate Sanner

BALLOT INITIATIVES

From Eva Lewis, Political Director of the Maryland Democratic Party:

There are two ballot initiatives that voters will vote on for this election –
(1) Fix the Fund so that monies from gambling are in a “lockbox” and can only be used for education and
(2) passing an amendment to our state constitution to allow same day registration on election days.
The state party supports both ballot initiatives.
