The Shepherd’s Staff Back-To-School Program Fundraising Campaign – OVER! (NEW)

We just finished running another campaign, with the deadline being August 9. This year, we raised another $300!

Thanks again to all who contributed!

Central Committee Vacancies FILLED (NEW)

The Carroll County Democratic Central Committee would like to officially welcome our two newest members to the CCDCC, Corynne Courpas and Greg Hutsell!!!  We look forward to a lot of good things in the future!

Note from the President

Thank you so much to all of you who attended the annual Carroll County Democratic Club picnic at Lions Club Park in Union Mills on Sunday, July 28th. We were thrilled that Rep. Jamie Raskin took time out of his very busy schedule to come to the picnic and spend some quality time with us. He inspired and fired us up with his speech in the way that only Jamie Raskin can. You can watch the video of his speech on our Club FB page – https://www.facebook.com/CarrollCountyDemocraticClub/videos/2490326444576856/

Thanks also to MD State Delegate Eric Luedtke for attending our picnic as well as to our other speakers: Myrna Whitworth, one of the organizers of the wonderful new group S.H.E. – Support Her Election, and Don West, chair of the CC Democratic Central Committee.

At the picnic, we raffled off two gift baskets filled with treats that were made in Maryland. I am so happy to report that we brought in $160.00 for the Club’s Good Works Fund that donates to charities, causes and organizations in the county. Thanks to all of you who bought raffle tickets. Carroll Democrats Care!

Please remember that the last day to contribute to The Shepherd’s Staff Back-to-School Program through the CC Democratic Club is August 9. We would love to provide even more vouchers for new school shoes this year! Details on where to send your donation is in the section titled “The Shepherd’s Staff Back-To-School Program Fundraising Campaign”, above.

Just a reminder: Our Club does not have regular meetings in the summer but you can stay connected through our weekly newsletter that highlights the events that our CC Democrats can take part in. Our next regular Club meeting will take place on Monday, September 9, so please save the date.

I invite all of you to share with me your ideas on how to strengthen our Club and how we can do outreach in the county. Thank you for all you do to give Democrats a vibrant and meaningful voice in Carroll County.

Kate

Note from the Chair: Upcoming movies with FLICC! (UPDATED)

From CCDCC Chair Don West:

Join us at the Carroll Arts Center for one of our upcoming summertime films from Film Lovers In Carroll County (FLICC).  You can even get a refreshing adult beverage or try one of the new gourmet slushies to cool off a bit!

  • Mark your calendars now: on Friday, September 20th, we will be screening Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, first on the big screen 50 years ago (just seems like yesterday)!  This trip down memory lane is brought to you by those leftists at the Carroll County Democratic Central Committee!

As always, we recommend purchasing your tickets ahead of time online:

An invitation from Kate

Calling all patriots! Have you heard of Postcards to Voters?

“Postcards to Voters are friendly, handwritten reminders from volunteers to targeted voters giving Democrats a winning edge in close, key races coast to coast.

What started on March 11, 2017 with sharing 5 addresses apiece to 5 volunteers on Facebook so that they could mail postcards to voters in Jon Ossoff’s race grew in one month to 1,200+ volunteers nationwide and over 51,000 postcards mailed.

Now, we consist of over 61,000+ volunteers in every state (including Alaska and Hawaii) who have written close to 4 million postcards to voters in over 162 key, close elections.”

To learn how you can write individually from home, go to: https://postcardstovoters.org/volunteer/

Or you can attend a great postcard writing group that meets weekly at The Shops at Kenilworth in Towson every Thursday from 10 AM – 12 Noon. I just started attending on July 4th and plan on going frequently. (I have written PTV from home for the Midterms.). The organizer of the group, Jill, an amazing activist whom I met 2 ½ years ago, asked me to extend an invitation to all Democratic Club members to come write with them. This is a powerhouse group of postcard writers but they are also welcoming and enthusiastic. I hope you can come!
