PICNIC CANCELLED (BUT NOT DUES….)

Because of COVD-19, the annual Club Picnic (normally held in July) is CANCELLED.

Now, lots of club members have renewed their dues at the Picnic – in fact, more than HALF of our members normally do so!  Since that won’t be an option this year, this is a reminder that DUES ARE DUE! (?)

(Since the Club Year runs May – May, the 2020-2021 Club Year began just last month.)

So, send those dues to Mark Wilson, 1699 King Richard Road, Eldersburg, MD 21784.

Dues are $15 for an individual, or $25 for a couple/family – unchanged for years and years and years!

Such a bargain! And in this election year, so critical!

Make your checks payable to “CCDemClub” or “Carroll County Democratic Club”.

In return, you will be sent a super-spiffy membership card  – woohoo!

Note from the President

Dear friends,

I hope this finds you all feeling and doing well.

The CC Democratic Club extends its congratulations to Mia Mason on her win in the Democratic primary for Representative in Congress for Congressional District One. To learn more about her, donate or volunteer in her campaign, please visit her website at https://miadmason.us/mia-mason-for-congress-1. We would also like to extend our thanks to Allison Galbraith and Jennifer Pingley for stepping up and choosing to run in the primary. Mason, Galbraith, and Pingley are all excellent examples of the courage and leadership we need now more than ever.

Congratulations also to:

Laura Morton who will run in the General Election against Richard Titus for Judge of the Circuit Court – Carroll County. Laura’s website is https://www.lauramortonforjudge.com/.

Virginia Harrison who will run in the General Election for a seat on the CC Board of Education. Virginia’s Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/VirginiaHarrison4CCPSBoE/

If you are looking for a way to take action now for the 2020 elections, here is another opportunity for postcard writers for which I recently signed up: Write Postcards with Flip the West to Flip the Senate Blue. Find out more about it in the section of the newsletter titled: MORE Action Steps to Stay Politically Active While Staying at Home (following). Regaining control of the Senate is vital. I hope you will consider joining me in this effort.

Please share with us your ideas for helping our community and for staying politically active. We need everyone to be involved. Take care and stay well.

Kate Sanner

President of the CC Democratic Club

MORE Action Steps to Stay Politically Active While Staying at Home

Write Postcards with Flip the West to Flip the Senate Blue

“Flip the West’s postcard campaigns are focused on flipping the U.S. Senate. Winning the Senate is key to the future of the courts, expanding healthcare, protecting the environment, racial justice and so many other critical issues. With all plans for canvassing on hold, reaching voters with postcards becomes tremendously important.

Currently our postcard campaign is in Iowa. We are writing to voters there, urging them to elect Democrat Teresa Greenfield to the U.S. Senate. Polls in Iowa show that she has a real chance to defeat Republican Senator Joni Ernst, a true Trump lackey.

Once you sign up, you will receive your list of names and addresses in an email within 72 hours.”

New Ways to Get Involved and Make an Impact!

We’ve just gotten notified of TWO ways people can get involved with the effort to build a Big Blue Wave this November!

– Carroll County Phonebank

– Ways to support Jamie Raskin’s e-election

——————————————————————–

1) Carroll County Phonebank

From Justin Wilson, Regional Organizing Director of MDDEMS.ORG:

Here is the information about our phonebanking program:

With the rise of school closings and people working from home during the coronavirus outbreak,

I have decided that the best way to build up the party and prepare our Pennsylvania export program for roll out is to set up weekly remote phonebanks.

Starting this week, I’ll be hosting a training every Monday @ 7:30pm on zoom video conferencing.

The URL for that training is https://zoom.us/j/835664857

Hopefully we can recruit more and more volunteers in the coming weeks.

Our script has three priorities:

– Informing folks of the postponement of the MD primary and to emphasize the importance of voting by mail,

– gathering information from voters to help increase voter turnout in 2020 and 2022 as well as

– identifying folks who are willing to volunteer in a big GOTV operation for the general election for Pennsylvania.

If we prepare now, we can turn PA blue in November!
