From the HSCC:

Primary Election: All-Mail!

From Katherine Berry, Election Director, Carroll County Board of Elections:

As you are aware, Governor Hogan has postponed the April 28 Presidential Primary Election to June 2. I want to personally let you know that the State Board of Elections and Local Boards of Elections are working tirelessly to make this transition as seamless as possible while ensuring that all registered voters are able to cast their ballots.

This week, the State Board Members voted in favor of an all-mail election. We are finalizing processes and procedures and voters will likely begin receiving a ballot in the mail in the beginning of May. I have had some questions regarding what you can do to assist with making sure our voters are informed about this election, so here are some helpful pieces of information that you can help spread to our voters:

  1. All voters need to review their registration information here: https://voterservices.elections.maryland.gov/VoterSearch

If any information needs updated, they can do so here:  https://voterservices.elections.maryland.gov/OnlineVoterRegistration/InstructionsStep1

  1. Regarding party affiliation, if a voter wishes to change their party, they can use the link above to make that change. If a voter is registered as anything other than the two majority parties, they will receive a non-partisan ballot which only includes the Board of Education.

  1. If a voter is going to be out of town and needs to have their ballot delivered to a different address OR they would like to have their ballot delivered via web delivery, they should complete an absentee ballot application detailing such information. This application is found in the second link in #1.

  1. All ballots will be mailed with a prepaid postage return envelope.

Note from the President

Dear friends,

I hope this finds you well.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the closing of schools, libraries, and government offices, the curtailment or complete closing of businesses, the cancellation of events, and the urgent need for staying home and social distancing.

The Club has cancelled all its in-person events and activities through April and May. We will, however, hold our election of officers for the 2020-2021 virtually. Emails with the slate of officers to vote on have by now been sent to Club members. We will announce the results of the election to our entire club email list on April 6th.

As we take care of ourselves and our families, let’s also remember to care of those who are in need of community assistance and support even in the best of times. Though there are many worthy charities and service organizations in Carroll County, I include here three organizations that the Club has supported in the recent past and who could use your financial help in these challenging times:

Carroll County Food Sunday – https://ccfoodsunday.org/how-to-help/

Human Services Programs of Carroll County – https://hspinc.org/give/ (scroll down to Online Gift)

The Shepherd’s Staff – https://www.shepstaff.org/giving/ways-to-give/donate-online/

Please follow and stay up to date with the health and public safety recommendations issued by: our local government at https://www.carroll-lhd.org/covid-19 , our state government at https://health.maryland.gov/ , and the CDC – https://www.cdc.gov/ .

Stay well.

Kate Sanner

President of the CC Democratic Club
