Note from the President (NEW)
The CC Democratic Club is happy to provide the link to the video recording of the Congressional District 1 candidate forum hosted by the Club.at the Taneytown Public Library on March 2, 2020. You can view it at https://youtu.be/wMmy93nVzMc.
Participating in the forum were Jennifer Pingley, RN of Cecil County (https://www.electjenrn.com/), Mia Mason of Frederick County (https://miadmason.us/), and Allison Galbraith of Harford County (https://www.flipthefirst.com/). In addition to watching the video, I would recommend you sign up for each of their mailing lists so you can get their newsletters and learn more about their positions on issues before the Maryland Primary. Early Voting for the MD Primary takes place on April 16th though the 23rd; Primary Day is April 28th.
The Club’s next meeting will take place on Monday, April 6, 2020 from 6:30 – 8:30 in the Large Meeting Room of the Westminster branch of the Carroll County Public Library. In addition to a short business meeting at which we will elect officers for the next Club year, we will also host a forum for the three candidates for the Judge of the Circuit Court of Carroll County which is a non-partisan race. Our courts are an important part of our government – at the federal, state, and local levels. We should all be as informed as we can be before we vote for who will serve on the bench.
Also, save the date of May 4 for the last regularly scheduled meeting of the Club year. At the May meeting, which will be held in the Large Meeting Room of the Finksburg Library, we will have the swearing in of the officers elected at the April meeting, a speaker from Human Services Programs of Carroll County who will do a short presentation on their new and current initiatives, and hopefully, a political guest. More details to follow.
Please note that there will be a Club special event on June 1 to keep us engaged and motivated ahead of the November elections. We will also have our annual Democratic club picnic in July at Lions Club Park in Union Bridge (the exact date is now being planned). More details to follow.
The Club’s postcard writing group will be meeting again on Saturday, March 14 from 10 AM to 12 Noon. Unfortunately, all the meeting rooms at the Westminster Public Library were booked, so we will meet up in the lobby and then find a table at which we will work for the two hours. I will provide the postcards (no cost to you); you provide the postcard stamps and 2 hours of your time. Bring a pen and colored pens if you have them.
Please stay engaged and get others engaged with the CC Democratic Club. Remember, you don’t need to be a member to attend our meetings, activities, or to volunteer (though we would love it if you do). Thank you for all you do to give Democrats an important presence and vibrant voice in Carroll County
Kate

ALL ARE WELCOME AT OUR MEETINGS AND EVENTS!
Did you know that you do not have to be a member of the CC Democratic Club to
attend our meetings and events? Our activities are open to anyone who would like to
attend and participate. (Almost all our activities are free. Our picnic in July is free to paid
members.)
That being said, we would love to have you as a member! Membership costs $15 for an
individual and $25 for a couple per club year. You will get a very spiffy membership card
and the gratitude and camaraderie of fellow CC Democrats. Most importantly, your
membership dues help the Club extend its outreach in the community, so please

Postcards 4 Maryland postcard writing group! (UPDATED)
The CC Democratic Club has formed the Postcards 4 Maryland Carroll County postcard writing group
We will be meeting weekly on Saturdays from 10 AM to 12 Noon at the Westminster Public Library. The next meeting is THIS Saturday, March 14. Unfortunately, all the meeting rooms at the Westminster Public Library were booked, so we will meet up in the lobby and then find a table at which we will work for the two hours.
We will be writing postcards through Postcards to Voters, Postcards to Wisconsin (they are providing the cards – we provide the stamps), postcards for PA through a MD based allies group, and any other battleground state postcard campaigns I learn about. Please bring postcards if you have them. I will let you know where to order some for purchase to use going forward and I will also have some to sell at cost. Please also bring postcard stamps. Postcard postage is $0.35. You can buy books of 20 stamps at the post office or rolls of 100 stamps. I will also have stamps you can purchase for use that day. The room seats 10 people so if you plan to come, let me know. If the group grows over time, I will try to get the larger library room. We will be meeting on Saturday March 14.
Jamie Raskin mobile office: open once a month in Westminster!

EVENTS
March 14 (1 of 2): NEXT Patriots Resist Rally (NEW)
From CarrollCAN:
This is a peaceful gathering to spread our beliefs in social justice, including human rights and the environment.
We focus on positive messaging through our signs, but also take on pressing issues that deserve direct responses.
We meet across from the Westminster Branch Library, from 1 to 2pm every Saturday. We have been demonstrating weekly for three years. We invite and welcome new faces to the event.
There are no organizers for this event. It is an organic gathering that lets our fellow Carroll Countians understand that there are people in Carroll with a conscience who are working for social justice locally, nationally, and globally.
Any questions please email In…@carrollcan.org.
Upcoming Patriots Resist Rallies: March 21, 28.
NOTE: from now on, only the NEXT rally will be listed individually in detail.
Subsequent rallies will be listed by date only, as above.

April 7: “Harvest the Vote” Book Event in Frederick
The Curious Iguana bookstore in Frederick, MD will host author Jane Kleeb who will
share her new book, Harvest the Vote: How Democrats Can Win Again in Rural
America. The event runs from 7pm to 8pm. Harvest the Vote is an urgent and stirring road map showing how the
Democratic party can, and should, engage rural America.
This event is free but registration is preferred; click https://curiousiguana.com/event/jane-kleeb-harvest-the-vote/ to register. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event. Here is the Facebook link to get a free
ticket and reserve your place: https://www.facebook.com/events/199001544608651/
About the book:
The Democratic Party has lost an entire generation of rural voters. By
focusing the majority of their message and resources on urban and
coastal voters, Democrats have sacrificed entire regions of the country
where there is more common ground and shared values than what
appears on the surface.
In Harvest the Vote, Jane Kleeb, chair of Nebraska’s Democratic Party
and founder of Bold Nebraska, brings us a lively and sweeping argument
for why the Democrats shouldn’t turn away from rural America. As a party leader and
longtime activist, Kleeb speaks from experience. She’s been fighting the national party
for more resources and building a grassroots movement to flex the power of a voting
bloc that has long been ignored and forgotten.
