Newsletter 12/7/17

CCDemClub NEWSLETTER #41, 12/07/17

The Holiday Dinner Dec. 14 is now full (again).  There’s NO Dem Club meeting until March, so we hope to see you at the Dinner.

Also, I’ve updated the name of the weekly rally to match the name on the CarrollCAN site: Patriots Resist Rally (Weekly Gathering for Inclusion).

Be sure to let us know if you have any problem reading the newsletter in this new format!

Slight revision: instead of having a separate section listing NEW and UPDATED items, they are now marked and highlighted in the Table of Contents.

BULLETIN: CANDIDATES NEEDED!

Anyone interested in running for local office should contact Don West (443-340-4141 or ccmdde…@gmail.com). The filing deadline is February 27, 2018. For additional information, see the Carroll County  Board of Elections web site, http://ccgovernment.carr.org/ccg/electionboard/CandidateInfo.aspx.

BULLETIN:  Volunteers needed!

We are starting a volunteer tracking program where we will train people to track Hogan and other Republicans when they are at events.  The tracker would record video or audio.  They must feel comfortable asking questions that we may give to them and they must have a car.  We are looking to have a training in December.  If interested, please contact Eva R. Lewis, Political Director of the Maryland Democratic Party, at ele…@mddems.org.

BULLETIN: Volunteering Opportunity in PG County

Volunteer positions are available, located in Prince George’s County.

Mr. Mark Harrison is running for District 6 County Council and is looking to hire a number of volunteers to assist with his campaign.

If anyone is interesting to apply for any of these volunteer positions, please call the campaign office at (202) 838-6294 or email to markharris…@gmail.com.

BULLETIN: Volunteering Opportunity in Virginia

From RAGTAG.ORG: If you are interested in canvassing in Virginia (governor and House of Delegate races), go to nomad.ragtag.org. You can pick a verified campaign staging location and time to go to for a canvass. No ride? There are empty seats available at nomad.ragtag.org, and you and the drivers will be able to find each other. No complex logistical coordination for you, and no cost.

EVENTS

(NEW) Dec. 9 (1 of 3): Ethics Ordinance: let’s Go CARROLLING and Happy Hour

(From VOCAL Carroll County)

Join fellow VOCALizers in Westminster on Saturday, December 9th at 2:00pm as we raise our voices in support of a strong ethics ordinance!

We will meet outside JeannieBird Baking Company (42 W Main Street) for a festive stroll of approximately one mile with singing to the County Government building (225 N Center Street). We will then loop back to Johansson’s for socializing and celebrating the season. (map)

Please RSVP at the Facebook event page or via email to VOCALcarr…@gmail.com, subject=RSVP.

Ethics Ordinance gaining traction

The response to this project has been very positive thus far. The latest developments include:

Nov 21 – Candidate for District 3 Commissioner writes letter to editor calling for ethics ordinance

Nov 26 – Carroll County Times publishes editorial calling for ethics ordinance in Sunday paper plus VOCAL letter to editor is printed.

The Facebook page now has over 120 followers.

But your help is still needed to ensure the Commissioners get the message that they must act quickly on this non-partisan issue!
