Minutes

Meeting was held Mt. Airy Public Library and was called to order by Don West, Chair, at 6:35pm.

Guest Speaker
Sally Long -- offer to volunteer to coordinate HQ again this year
- What hours do we want the office to be open?
- - Target certain times that we want to be open -- early evening, 5-7 or so
- Schedule two people for every shift, have a pool of substitutes
- Need to coordinate activities happening at HQ
- We should create a master plan for running the HQ
- Tom and Mark will send out the email blasts seeking volunteers
- - Need to be clear what we're asking, who to contact, etc.
- - Possibly have volunteer training

- Approval of agenda -- motion by Frank, 2nd by Corynne, approved unanimously

- Special full state party meeting 12/7 -- Yvette Lewis, New Chair
- Holiday gala- thanks Kate and Mark
- - Should we have a prayer at future events?  Will continue to ask Marty to Victory Dinner
- Carroll County Education Association dinner -- 1/4/20, Don and Anne will attend
- New group photo -- wait until everyone is in attendance

Secretary's Report
- Remove Don from November attendance
- Motion to approve deferred to January
- Send to Skyler

Treasurer's Report
- Current balance - $5,639.26.  Motion to approve report by Frank, 2nd by Charles; vote unanimous
- Bumper stickers are paid, postcards are not reflected in December's report

Committee Reports
- Campaign planning -- no changes
- - Need to create a volunteer spreadsheet
- - There is a volunteer folder in the CCDems email
- - Continue LTEs to CCT
- - - CC Dems is sponsoring a workshop on effective LTEs
- Candidate recruitment and orientation -- identified positions, 
candidates, established progression, from President down to municipal 
positions, identify where concentrations of Democrats are, draw 
candidates from there, identify vulnerabilities in candidates, help 
strengthen candidates, develop talking points to address areas of 
concern from constituents, candidate training, expose candidate to 
community, organization of staff, funding
- - Recruitment for 2022 needs to start now
- - Start a list of possible candidates
- Issues -- Kate will send out survey questions after first of year
- - Really looking to reach out to farmers -- Christian Farmers of America
- MDP Ethics and Sexual Harassment -- no update
- MDP Platform Committee -- delay in getting surveys out
- MDP Field and Data -- no update
- Sexual and Gender Minority and Diversity -- next meeting is Thursday
- CC Dems and SC Dems Clubs -- CC Dems will keep meeting through upcoming months, preparing for 2020 election

Old Business
- Watch parties for debates -- skip December, too much with the holidays
- Bumper stickers - received
- Giving Tuesday -- email blast went out, 17.5% open rate for email blasts
- Hispanic and minority outreach -- Greg will be meeting with Latino Diversity Committee leader in January
- - Kate will send additional contacts
- New resident outreach -- received postcards, will receive first updated list in January

- Next canvass -- start up again in January, Greg will organise
- Western MD Democratic PAC -- Rocky Gap (3/20-21/20)
- - Theme -- Uniting to Defeat Trump
- - Sponsorship? Corynne motions to approve, Kate seconds, unanimously approved
- MDP Voter Protection Committee -- nothing coming from State party
- Victory Dinner -- 5/14/20 -- speaker?  Yvette on list to join us
- Local elections -- municipal and school board -- two school board seats up
- Website -- Mark can always use updated content

Next Meeting
- January 9, 2020 at 6:30pm in large meeting room of Finksburg Library.  Aruna Miller, Women's Democratic Leadership Council, 
will attend.
