Carroll County Democratic Central Committee Meeting Minutes March 8, 2018 The meeting was held in the small conference meeting room of the Finksburg Branch of the Carroll County Public Library and was called to order at 7:13 pm by Vice President Anita Reily. Committee Members in attendance Anita Reily, Frank Rammes, Corynne Corpas, Charles Harrison Other attendees Candidates for election to the Democratic Central Committee: Katherine Shaw, Gregory Hutsell, Raquel Walsh, Kathleen M. (Kate) Sanner Chair's Report Anita Riley review the committee's activities occurring since the February meeting. Special note was made of committee member participation with and support of the VOCAL group during the February 27th Carroll County Commissioner's public hearing regarding the adoption of the Counties Ethics Ordinance. Secretary's Report Motion to approve the February meeting minutes by Corynne C. and seconded by Charles H. Approval was unanimous Treasurer's Report Motion to accept by Frank R. and seconded by Anita R. Club Reports South Carroll Democratic Club Ð no report Carroll County Democratic Club Ð Frank R. presented the results of the club hosted ''meet the Candidates'' gathering on March 5th and the March 8th ''Emily Shank campaign kick-off '' held at Johansson's Brew House, Westminster, Md. Frank R. additionally mentioned; the April Club meeting with guest speaker Tim Hickman; the May forum for District 3 candidate Doug Mathias; the July picnic at Silver Run Lions Club Park, and the Sign Rally prior to the June primary election. Young Dems Ð No report Committee Reports VOCAL Ð provided a progress update regarding the County Commissioner's acceptance and approval of the revised County Ethics Ordinance. Urged all to attend the March 13th commissioners hearing and to sign the current petition. CARROLL CAN Ð Urged all to attend the March 18th meeting at the North Carrol Public Library Branch. Elizabeth Embrey and Charles Harrison, candidate for the Carroll County Orphan's Court will be the guest speakers. State Politics Ð no report Local Politics Ð no report VAN Ð no report Old Business Western MD PAC Ð Corynne C. received and distributed tickets to attendees. She has two additional tickets for other members interested in attending the April 20 Ð 21, 2018 event. Victory Dinner: May 10, 2018. Solicit for additional ads for the program booklet. Sell more tickets Motion to give an award honoring John and Jean Lewis for continuous service to the community at the Victory Dinner. Motion by Frank R. and seconded by Corynne C. Approved unanimously. New Business Speaker Requests: As a result of requests by several candidates for Judge, Circuit Court of Carroll County, Charles H. was authorized to extend an invitation to all candidates for this non-partisan position. The CCDCC will extend invitations to introduce and make brief comments at the April 12th meeting to Maria L. Oesterreicher, George Psoras, Jr. and Incumbent Judge Richard R. Titus Voter Registration Drive will be further discussed at a future meeting. CMC/Media coverage of the District One Candidates forum. Discussion with CMC re current policy continues. Candidates Training - Discussion regarding campaign operations was tabled and will be discussed at future meetings. Fund Raising Ð Discussions re the Silent Auction and other fundraising activities. Requests for gift cards, dinner certificates and other auction items made. Announcements The next regular meeting or the CCDCC will be Thursday, April 12, 2018 starting at 7:00 pm, at the Westminster Branch, Carroll County Public Library.
