Minutes of the Carroll County Democratic Central Committee
September 14, 2017

In attendance:  Don West, Frank Rammes, Tom Scanlan, Corynne
Courpas, Dorothy Scanlan, Charles Harrison, Mitch Edelman. 
Interns:  Kara Adamcik, Lily Gavin, Kristen Janeczek

Guest:  Jim Ebersol, for Kevin Kamenetz

The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm by Don West.

Pledge of Allegiance

Chair's Report
Joan McGrath has resigned from CCDCC.  Mike Busch says he
wants to come to Carroll County this fall.  MD State Party
has a new political director:  Eva Lewis

Secretary's Report

The August minutes were approved.

Treasurer's Report
The July Treasurer's Report was approved.   The current
balance in our checking account is $6314.36.

Activist Groups

VOCAL: no report

CarrollCAN:  meeting to be held Sept. 17; transitioning
leadership

Club Reports:
CCDems:  First meeting of the year was on 9/11/17 with Anne
Stoner speaking on LGBTQ issues.  Mona Becker will speak on
10/2/17 on environmental issues.  Charles Brown from Humane
Society of Carroll County to speak in November.

South Carroll Club:  No report.

Young Dems:  Have not met yet.

Subcommittees

Local Politics:  Haven Shoemaker and other Republicans are
attacking Brian Frosh.

Annapolis:  No report

Communications:  Interns will start posting on Facebook;
interns are handling Twitter.  Instagram:  Carroll_dems

VAN:  Would like to make 600 contacts by the end of October
Ð Summer of Resistance and Renewal.  Zach sent out script;
send Zach Carroll County specific questions; 5-6 questions
maximum.

LGBTQ:  no report.

Old Business

* Mitch is working on final draft of Four Year Plan. *
Fallfest:  rounding out the schedule * Breakfast:  Anita
sent out the flier * Candidate recruitment and training
events:  Sign up for large meeting room after Oct. 1  Jan.
20, 2018 is first choice, followed by 1/27; followed by
1/13.  Reserve room from 8am to 1pm.

New Business

* United Democratic Women of Maryland:  banquet
advertisement purchased for $30 half page. * NAACP
advertisement:  $75 for half page and reserve a table *
Holiday Dinner will be Thursday, December 14; $35 per person
* No candidates have been recruited

The meeting adjourned. Our next meeting will be October 12,
2017 in the Large Meeting Room of the Westminster Library.
