Minutes of the Carroll County Democratic Central Committee April 13, 2017 In attendance: Don West, Frank Rammes, Tom Scanlan, Charles Harrison, Anita Riley, Corynne Courpas, Zach Hand Interns: Ryan Koch Guests: Christian Orr, Kathleen Matthews The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm by Don West. Pledge of Allegiance ChairÕs Report AlzheimerÕs Association donation for Nimrod Davis was acknowledged by his wife. Kevin Kamenetz Fundraiser to be held April 25th Washington County JJ Dinner to be held April 26th Western Maryland Democratic Summit to be held April 28th-29th CCDCC Victory Dinner to be held May 4th Maryland State Democratic Party meeting to be held May 6th The farmer who allowed large Van Hollen signs to be placed on his property will be invited to the DVD. SecretaryÕs Report The March minutes were approved. Corynne moved; 2nd by Frank TreasurerÕs Report There is a balance of $3,731.45 in our checking account. The TreasurerÕs Report was approved. Frank moved; 2nd by Zach Club Reports CC Dems: Ben Yingling & Joe Dominick spoke at April meeting. Next meeting May 1; Dave Scott will present about NATO and Ryan Koch will receive his scholarship. Picnic Sunday, July 30, 1-4 LionÕs Club Park South Carroll Club: First meeting will be May 17, 7pm at the South Carroll Community & Senior Center; and the SCDem FaceBook page has 37 likes! Young Dems: No report Kathleen Matthews Kathleen Matthews talked about the Congressional districts and the importance of having a Democratic governor. Kathleen had hoped to work for Hilary Clinton, but after her loss decided to run for State Party Chair. The Democratic Party must work with all the counties, not just the four big Democratic areas (PG, Montgomery, Baltimore County, Baltimore City). The Precinct system would be more effective, and we must be a Òbig tentÓ to get more people involved. Emerge Maryland is a growing program for women candidates; 15 from Carroll County will be trained in an introductory program. Another idea she talked about was All Maryland Neighbor to Neighbor. Each member present spoke to Kathleen about our backgrounds and our views about the future of the party. Committee Reports Ð were cut short because of time Two new interns: Kara Adamcik & name? Events Victory Dinner: 22 ads so far; 9 patron ads; deadline 4/20/17. We make most of our money on the program/ads. The silent auction is looking good, but could use some more good things. Raffle will be for the WCCDem Club. No keynote speaker yet, but enough dignitaries to fill the night with speeches. 10 free tickets to Lincoln will be given out at DVD. Lincoln: Friday, May 19 at the Carroll County Arts Center; two showings Ð 1pm & 7:30pm Old Business Two Year Plan: Christian Orr met with Anita & Corynne and point by point looked at the plan. Christian & Zach will get together and develop a draft, which will be finalized by July. New Business None. The meeting adjourned at 9:07pm.
