Carroll County Democratic Central Committee Meeting Minutes November 21st, 2013 Committee members in attendance Jackie Jones, Paula Monroe-Davidson, Maria Warburton, Frank Rammes, Jim Gregory, Corynne Courpas, Greg Pecoraro, Don West, Neil Ridgely, Dorothy Scanlon, Anita Riley and Jackie Schrenker-Case. Other attendees none Meeting was held in the Large Meeting Room of the Westminster Branch of the CCPL and was called to order by Jackie Jones, Chair, at 7:01pm and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. There was also a brief remembrance of the upcoming 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy (November 22nd 1963). Chair's Report none Secretary's Report October's minutes were sent to CCDCC members via e-mail. A motion to approve minutes was made by Jim G., 2nd by Maria W., vote unanimous. Treasurer's Report Treasurer's report was sent out via e-mail to the members and showed a current balance of $7,350.40. Motion to approve report by Don W., 2nd by Frank R., vote unanimous. Club Reports Committee Reports Neil R. gave his Local Politics report, including an update of the current list of candidates for the BoCC and other local offices, Common Core, Clean Chesapeake Coalition, Rain Tax and a possible fine for Carroll County, transportation plan, and a scheme by Commissioner Frazier to develop unregulated lots. The Election Committee report was given by Corynne C., including comments on Jim's idea to host a candidate training meeting, and the need for a strong commissioner candidate in District #3. Deadline for candidate filing with the Board of Elections (http://ccgovernment.carr.org/ccg/election/default.asp) is 9 pm on February 25, 2014. The primary election will be held on June 24, 2014. There was also a presentation on what was discussed at the recent State Party meeting. There were no Events, Fundraising, Grassroots/Outreach, or Communications reports. Old Business Anita R. gave a report on the October breakfast, where we made an estimated $700.00. Everyone felt that the speaker was excellent. Anita proposed that we do only one breakfast per year, in October. New Business Jim G. presented his idea for the CCDCC hosting a local candidate training session in the new year, including what it should be called, what its focus should be, and what the agenda should include. Corynne C. and Frank R. will help Jim with the planning for this event. Corynne suggested holding the event at Harry's. Anita R. and Jackie J. will be meeting with election campaign strategist Peter Baron, perhaps he will be able to attend our event. There was a discussion about holding a CCDCC holiday dinner again this year. The consensus was for CCDCC members to support the CCDems and South Carroll clubs holiday events instead. Announcements The next regular meeting for the CCDCC will be Thursday, December 19th, 2013, starting at 7 pm, in the Small Meeting Room of the Finksburg Branch of the CCPL.
