Carroll County Democratic Central Committee Meeting Minutes April 17th, 2014 Committee members in attendance Corynne Courpas, Maria Warburton, Neil Ridgely, Jackie Jones, Paula Monroe-Davidson, Anita Riley, Frank Rammes, Jim Gregory, Don West, and Dorothy Scanlon. Other attendees none Meeting was held in the Large Meeting Room of the Westminster Branch of the CCPL and was called to order by Jackie Jones, Chair, at 7:04 pm and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance. Chair's Report Chuck Cook is the new State Party Political Director Secretary's Report March's minutes were sent to CCDCC members via e-mail. A motion to approve minutes was made by Neil R., 2nd by Dorothy S., vote unanimous. Treasurer's Report Treasurer's report was sent out via e-mail to the members and showed a current balance of $5,944.98. Motion to approve report by Don W., 2nd by Frank R., vote unanimous. Club Reports none Special Report none Committee Reports Neil R. gave his Local Politics report, including on-going sectarian prayers at the County, the amended Ethics Ordinance, candidate forums, and switching party affiliations. There were no Events, Fundraising, Grassroots/Outreach, or Communications reports. Old Business Upcoming JJ Dinner (May 15th) was once again a topic of conversation, including possible speaker, lining up advertisements for the brochure, Silent Auction donations, and selling tickets. Tickets will be $75/person (table of ten for $700.00). The CC Dems will be running the Silent Auction this year. There was a motion by Frank R. to offer first-time JJ Dinner attendees (and students) a reduced rate of $55, 2nd by Neil R., vote unanimous. Corynne C. will send out 'personalized' invitations to an extensive list of politicos. Hampstead Day will be Saturday, May 24th. We will have our usual booth that day. Paula M-D will organize the sign-up grid. New Business Westminster's Memorial Day parade was discussed , and several candidates wanted to participate. Maria W. will get more information. We talked about the CC 4 H Fair, and we decided not to participate as a group. Individual candidates are encouraged to participate as they see fit. Corynne C. made a motion the we cover any costs associated with participating in the Fallfest Parade, 2nd by Don W., vote unanimous. Corynne announced the MD Democratic Gala will be held on Wednesday, May 21st in Upper Marlboro. There is a 'special' central committee price of $150/member. Announcements The next regular meeting for the CCDCC will be Friday, May 9th, 2014, starting at 6 pm, at Anita Riley's house. JJ Dinner is Thursday, May 15th! Meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm.
