Maryland Democrats Making it 8 in ‘08

“One down, seven to go.”

A statement from Michael Cryor, Chair of the Maryland Democratic Party

“This is the first of what promises to be many remarkable achievements for the indefatigable Donna Edwards. As the first African-American woman elected to Congress from Maryland she is making history while remaking Congress in the image of all that is America. Equally important, the 4th District – indeed all of Maryland – now has another voice for progress, justice and change in the nation’s capital.

I am among the many who are very proud of Donna, the Maryland Democratic Party, the 4th Congressional District and the state of Maryland.

One down, seven to go. Now, with Donna Edwards going to the House of Representatives, we turn our energy to achieving even more. This is a unique time in our state and in our nation. Maryland’s Democrats, Republicans and independents will join hands to put Sen. Barack Obama in the White House and send eight Maryland Democrats to the People’s House.

Our party’s opportunity to ‘Make it 8 in ‘08’ is well within view. If we accomplish what I know is possible, Frank Kratovil in Maryland’s 1st District and Jennifer Dougherty in Maryland’s 6th will solidify our Maryland Congressional Delegation. We aren’t fooling around here. It’s time to put our nation back on the right track once again.”
